Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite egg dishes and to make the perfect Eggs Benedict you also need to know how to make the perfect poached egg. There are egg cookers, egg poaching cups and more but here is one way to make the perfect poached egg with just a saucepan, water, a little salt and vinegar. Follow these step by step directions and you will find that you can enjoy the perfect poached egg on a slice of toast or with your own eggs benedict! 🥚
**Heat the 1 to 1 1/2 inches of water in a saucpan. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
*Crack your egg in a small ramekin or dish.
*Using your slotted spoon quickly stir the water in one direction until it is spinning around - like a whirlpool. For bigger batches, heat the water, salt and vinegar in a 12-inch nonstick skillet and do not stir.
*Carefully add the egg into the center of the whirlpool. The swirling water will help prevent the white from spreading out in the pan.
*Turn off the heat, cover the pan and set your timer for 5 minutes. Don't remove the lid till you have given the egg its 5 minutes.
*After 5 minutes remove the lids and lift with slotted spoon to drain off the water and eat immediately.
